Romero Britto was born in Recife, Brazil in 1963. He was self taught at an early age and started to paint on newspapers and surfaces. In 1983 he travelled to Paris where he was introduced to the work of Maltisse and Picasso. From looking at both of the two artistes he started working on his own.
Britto's work is in the style of pop-art as it's very colourful and bright. Looking at Britto's work you would think he was a child painter as his work is very simple and easy to do. Though his work has attracted many high street names and has had his work published worldwide.
Some people say that Britto's work is 'childish' and some say it's 'unique' I personally see it as original. He thought of these ideas and intended to make them stand out from the rest of the crowd. Though I do find some of his work child like I still think he has made them stand out and put a name to his work.
