Evaluation: Environments, Things Around You.
The research that I carried out was around Bansky, Romero Britto,
Brian Hubble, Tim Marrs and Teesha Moore. Out of these artists Brian Hubble and
Teesha Moore inspired me on my final piece. They both inspired me as they both
used mixed media in their work. I researched them and their work on the
internet. They worked with paint, photos, newspaper and pen. Teesha Moore’s work
was all traditional while Brian Hubble’s work was a mixture of scanned images
from a digital scanner and he also used stencils, paint, and printing ink
techniques. Teesha Moore’s work was all from a personal nature. One of them was
for her daughter, she used bright colours and things her daughter liked. She has
always made an object stand out from her work that represents who topic.
The primary sources in my visual investigation are my background and the cut out letters. I also have
secondary sources in my work, which is the face that is in the centre and the
information leaflets that I got from the internet.
My initial ideas are
done in my sketchbook. My ideas came from the top of my head, I looked into what
I have been doing in class and what is happening in the world as of right now.
My final idea was based upon Breast Cancer Awareness, as October is the
awareness month. My first idea came from the cold air, as we are now heading
into winter.
The techniques that I used were masking which was done on
Photoshop and brightness and contrast changing which was also done on Photoshop.
Using these techniques helped me massively as some of the images that I had
taken had come out too dark for my work.
I developed my ideas more by
looking into Brian Hubble and Teesha Moore’s work a lot more than I originally
did. I looked at the media they both used and which was the most common they
used in their work. With this information I made sure that I included it into my
work. I did originally want to do my work on the computer but I realised that it
would be a lot harder if I did so.
I didn’t do any test samples on my work though I
wish I did. After finally gathering my ideas for my final piece I realised that
maybe I should have chosen an easier idea as this was my first time doing this.
